Setting up FTP access in Plesk

Create FTP accounts and connect FileZilla or another FTP client to upload your files.

FTP access in Plesk

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) lets you upload and manage files on your server using a desktop application like FileZilla.

Creating an FTP account

  1. In Plesk, go to FTP Access (under Websites & Domains)
  2. Click Add FTP Account
  3. Enter a username and password
  4. Set the home directory (usually /httpdocs for the main domain)
  5. Click OK

Connecting with FileZilla

  1. Download and open FileZilla
  2. Go to File → Site Manager → New Site
  3. Protocol: SFTP (recommended) or FTP with TLS
  4. Host: your server hostname or IP
  5. Port: 22 (SFTP) or 21 (FTP)
  6. Enter your FTP username and password
  7. Click Connect
Security: Always use SFTP or FTPS instead of plain FTP. Plesk supports SFTP using your FTP credentials.
